MR. RAJEEV MALHAN.
Realty is slowly coming of age in India. Yet we still need to go a long way. Uniform standards, clear, transparent policies and planned development are the need of the hour. They will go a long way in ensuring that real estate developments are futurefriendly. The industry also needs adequate support in the form of critical infrastructure – energy, water, sanitation, waste management, etc. Changing aspirations and evolving lifestyles must be acknowledged and kept in mind while designing legislation for cities. The government needs to consciously encourage and incentivize the industry towards green technologies and sustainable developments. Initiatives that involve all stake- holders and bring them on a common platform to work together to implement solutions need to be given priority if our cities must survive without becomingnightmarishto live in.
